This is a prophetic message that contains the elements of teaching as most of my messages to the Body of Christ. This is George E Markakis, a Pastor and international speaker from Hellas (known as Greece in English). This is a prophetic message in the sense that it is a call of the Lord to His people at this time.

Whilst Darkness seems to be getting darker all around and things appear to be getting worse on all fronts on a global scale, the Lord is sending out to His people the same call that He spoke through Prophet Joel to the people of Israel of those days.

Joel 2:15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly

As He said to them, so He is saying to us today: STOP whatever you are doing, and come to Me through FASTING, which is obviously for the purpose of CONSECRATION and PRAYER.

However, not just any prayer; especially, not the kind of prayer where people tell God all their fears, worries, as well as desires and needs. The kind of prayer that is in order in this season is summarized in the words of Psalm 24:6: “This [is] Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your face. Selah”.

Selah indeed – meaning, PAUSE – but not just pause, but pause for the purpose of reflection, admiration, exaltation of the Lord, as we contemplate His Goodness as well as His Power to make His Light to shine bright in our lives despite all the Darkness that spreads all around.

This is a time that the call of God goes out same as through the words of James, who called God’s people of his days to draw near God, so that God could draw near them. Let’s read:

James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [you] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [you] double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and [your] joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

Now, that reminds us of the words of Joel, who said; let’s read after verse 15 which is the call of this message:

Joel 2:16 Gather the people, Sanctify the congregation, Assemble the elders, Gather the children and nursing babes; Let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, and the bride from her dressing room. 17 Let the priests, who minister to the LORD, Weep between the porch and the altar; Let them say, “Spare Your people, O LORD, and do not give Your heritage to reproach, That the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where [is] their God?’ ” 18 Then the LORD will be zealous for His land, and pity His people.

When we respond to the call of the Lord to STOP our activities and busy-ness of life, in order to take time to FAST, to PRAY, so that we may DRAW near God, then the Lord will surely be zealous and pity His people.
