The surgery to re-attach the retina took place on Jan. 4, 2018. After 6 months of having regular post-surgery check-ups, the Doctor said that the restoration process had been completed. The problem was that my eyesight was only partially restored; I only had 40% vision, but the Doctor said that I should be happy because that is normal after retinal detachment. Even more true in my case, that my retina was badly damaged, torn into 3 pieces when it was detached.

In the course of the 2 years after the eye-surgery I developed cataract and my eyesight deteriorated significantly. By the time I had my eyes checked in May 2021, the eyesight on my right eye had gone down to less than 20%. That is an occurrence that is medically expected following a retinal detachment as they told me.

However, what was my worst fear in this case, was that I thought that my eyesight could not be fully restored even after the surgery for cataract. That is because the last official report that was given to me was that there is always partial sight loss after retinal detachment, possibly over 50%, which was even more so in my case, as I had waited for more than 2 weeks before I had the eye surgery for the re-attachment.

The testimony after all that, which is to give THANKS and all the GLORY to the Lord, is what happened after the eye-surgery for the cataract. I was awestruck when I realized that I can now see perfectly, as when I was a teenager. The torn and detached retina has been fully restored, even though the scars are still visible (said the Doctor). My God has kept His promise!

Now, for the surgery to remove the cataract on both eyes I chose eye-lenses with some myopia, which allow me to see near. Therefore, I may continue to use glasses, but the miracle is that I can now see even minute details which I was not able to, over the recent few years.

Now that must be a miracle in its own right, even though it took place gradually, even through surgical interventions in my eyes. But those surgeries could not restore the damage done during the retinal detachment, that was God’s restorative intervention!

There are more of God’s promises which have not yet been fulfilled in the lives of both of us, my wife and myself. But I have now been convinced all the more than ever before, that every promise He has ever made shall come to pass. Even though it may have been years, as long as we neither yield nor surrender, the Lord shall cause it to come to pass. As it is written:

Psalms 27:13 [I would have lost heart,] unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. 14 Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!
