7day PRIESTLY DEDICATION to seek God’s Kingdom & Justice
THANKSGIVING & WORSHIP on the 8th day
Wedn 1 through Wedn 8 July 2020
Leviticus 15:1 And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When any man has a discharge from his body, his discharge [is] unclean.
In this the Lord speaks about “the land” (our city, our nation) where we live, which has been defiled spiritually and is “unclean”. As a result of the spiritual uncleanness, the “discharge” is the manifestations of Darkness in the social, political and economic life of the entire nation. Through this biblical “model” the Lord is calling us to apply the principle of spiritual cleansing, through priestly intercession on behalf of the land/city/nation.
That is, we, as many of us as are priests of the Lord in Christ Jesus, we assume the place of the one who is “sick” (which is the land/city/nation) before the Lord, as if we were sick. In that “place” of assuming the sick person’s position as priests, we intercede on “his” behalf.
In that, we intercede on behalf of the land/city/nation. As we apply the principle of spiritual cleansing from the “discharge” through the 7 days of purification according to the principle and model that is given to us through the Law of God, what we do takes effect in the land/city/nation. Now we’ll skip the next few verses (please read them yourself) and go directly to:
Leviticus 15:13 ‘And when he who has a discharge is cleansed of his discharge, then he shall count for himself seven days for his cleansing, wash his clothes, and bathe his body in running water; then he shall be clean. 14 ‘On the eighth day he shall take for himself two turtledoves or two young pigeons, and come before the LORD, to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, and give them to the priest. 15 ‘Then the priest shall offer them, the one [as] a sin offering and the other [as] a burnt offering. So the priest shall make atonement for him before the LORD because of his discharge.
This “priest” is you and I – those who are sons of God, members of the Royal Priesthood of Jesus Christ in the earth. We are not called to apply the Law of God literally, as the Levites did. We are God’s priests in the order of Melchizedek (that is of Jesus Christ), interceding before the Lord through spiritual sacrifices (not physical sacrifices).
— “he shall count for himself seven days for his cleansing, wash his clothes, and bathe his body in running water; then he shall be clean”:
The 7 days which the Holy Spirit identified and called us to dedicate to the Lord is 1-7 July 2020. During these 7 days we regard ourselves as “unclean, with discharge”, as we intercede on behalf of the “sick” (the land/city/nation). This is what priestly intercession is all about; it is a principle of the Kingdom of God which we are called to apply, thus being doers of the Word, not only hearers who never put to practice what we read/learn.
— “On the eighth day he shall take for himself two turtledoves or two young pigeons, and come before the LORD”:
The 8th day will be Wedn 8 July, when we are called to come before the Lord in prayer, thanksgiving, worship and praise. Whenever possible we ought to have a formal prayer service, whether at a church building or at home.
The “gifts” which we are called to bring before the Lord is not turtledoves of pigeons, but our thanksgiving, worship, praise and proclamations of His Goodness, His Mercy, His Grace, His Justice and His Light in the world. On the 8th day we are called to thank God for our purification and declare our “healing”, which is our collective freedom from the spiritual uncleanness of our land/city/nation. The more of us pray, the more effective our prayers will be to change the spiritual atmosphere of our land/city/nation.
This call, to this 7day priestly dedication, is the result of a dream that the Lord showed to a sister in Christ. She is an intercessor who is a member of the spiritual family of our House of Prayer, Shalom Center Athens.
A few details of the dream and the subsequent revelation that the Lord gave to our sister, is that she saw Him singing songs over the land, lamenting and grieving over the condition of “the land that vomits its inhabitants”, where injustice and oppression prevail, and the people suffer.
Our sister stressed how important it is for us to feel God’s love for the land, so that we may be praying according to His love and passion for salvation and freedom from Darkness and Death. Also of great importance, the Lord showed our sister the need for the spirit of unity among the members of the Body of Christ, and the need for spiritual purity.
He also showed her how much He yearns for a new generation of the Body of Christ to rise up, and led her to Psalm 51, to be used for intercession.
