Obedience, Sacrifice, Diligence, Patience, Perseverance

A teaching by George E Markakis, Pastor
Shalom Apostolic Ministries, Athens Hellas (Greece)

On Sunday, March 5, 2023, the Lord woke me up very early in the night and called me to the Prayer Room; I was there by 3am, where He spoke to me these concepts which are important for the work of ministry so that there may be good fruit; also, so that we may conquer God’s promises for our lives.

When He spoke those words, it was in the specific context of my life and ministry; more specifically also related to this particular moment in time that we are transitioning to a new phase.

In preparation for this brief sharing, I took the opportunity to do a little teaching by referring to some scriptures that show us what the Bible says about these concepts.

* OBEDIENCE

Romans 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “LORD, who has believed our report?” 17 So then faith [comes] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

2 Thessalonians 1:7 and to [give] you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

* SACRIFICE

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, [which is] your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what [is] that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

* DILIGENCE

2 Peter 1:5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, [you will be] neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

* PATIENCE

Psalms 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry.

Luke 21:19 By your patience possess your souls.

Romans 15:4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. 5 Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus,

James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have [its] perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

* PERSEVERANCE

Ephesians 6:18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
