Called by God – the calling of God for the believers.
A teaching by George E Markakis, in English, translated to Albanian, by the Pastor Olti Drabo of the Mercy House, a Church in the town of Korce, Albania, on Sunday 5 Nov. 2023.
First we are called to be and out of that we are also called to do for God
When we are found faithful in the few and the little that is now entrusted to us, more will be given to us, both in terms of divine nature in us, as well as in authority and responsibility.
1 Corinthians 1:1 PAUL, called [to be] an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes [our] brother, 2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called [to be] saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: 3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, 5 that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, 6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, 7 so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, 8 who will also confirm you to the end, [that you may be] blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God [is] faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
That reminds us of the words of Ap. Paul:
Ephesians 1:16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what [is] the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power…
I love God means I love my neighbor and all that God does in/for the world in which I live.
Be ready to serve in all things, needs, and at all times (expression of love).
Grow up in all things in Christ – He has/is a Body, so we are called to be(come) members of one another so that we may be built up to a spiritual household of God.
Called to be the Body of Christ
1 Peter 2:1 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord [is] gracious. 4 Coming to Him [as to] a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God [and] precious, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Called to pray
1 Timothy 2:1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this [is] good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Called to be a reflection/manifestation of the Holy Spirit
1 Cor 12 gifts for all believers.
Some are called to be a reflection/manifestation of Jesus (in ministry)
Eph. 4:11 those called to do the work of ministry.
