A teaching by George E Markakis (with Daryl and Debbie Snyder, American missionaries in Albania, on May 1, 2023) in response to a question on:
1 Corinthians 14:3 “he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.”
Is that the only purpose of any form of prophecy? To edify, to exhort, to comfort? Is there no other cause and purpose, such as to correct? Or, to bring revelation? Or perhaps to give a warning, e.g. of a future event?
If there are more causes and purposes to be served by prophecy, then why are they not included in these words of Ap. Paul?
