The power of sacrifice releases the power of God that raised Jesus from the dead

I am George E Markakis, Pastor of Shalom Center Athens

Today, 3 Feb. 2021, is the second day I wake up very early in the morning to pray. On the first day of February, I received and gave out a call from the Lord for such a systematic, daily commitment to prayer, link in the end.

Yesterday I had set the alarm at 4am but woke up on my own at 3:30. I knew the Lord was confirming in that way, that it was the right thing to do, that is, to start this daily discipline. He confirmed it in another way too. I had developed a bit of a cold, with stuffy and runny nose, and some difficulty in breathing. By 6:30am yesterday, when I went back to bed, I was completely healed. The message I received in my heart was this:

The power of sacrifice releases the power of the resurrection; as a result, the supernatural invades to possess the natural and saturate the reality of this world with the reality of the Kingdom of God.

This is what happened when Jesus died on the cross. His sacrifice to which He willingly surrendered Himself, released the supernatural power of the resurrection which invaded the physical condition of His deceased body, and possessed it by the supernatural reality of God’s Kingdom in which there is life eternal.

When I woke up this morning at 4am I felt like I had a date with someone; it felt like someone was waiting for me to spend time with me. Very soon it became clear in my mind that I needed to sit in front of my laptop to… “put my thoughts on paper” as we used to say in the good ol’ days… nowadays we put them thoughts on the screen… I guess!

I am having a very clear sense that I am supposed to write down these thoughts and make them available for anyone who cares, to read them. The idea is to motivate and mobilise, to exhort and to encourage my brothers and sisters, to overcome the slumber by discipline and the morbid reality of this world by the overpowering love of God.

He is inviting us to an early morning rendez-vous, to a tet-a-tet, a face-to-face quality time with Him. Yes, it is a sacrifice, but it is worth it… HE IS WORTHY of this small sacrifice!

When we regard Him worthy of this very small sacrifice, He will regard us worthy of the immense power of the resurrection to be released in/through our lives. When we minister to Him, He will minister to us.
